My mum didn’t prioritise family photos the way I do. She hated her photo being taken, so much so that there aren’t any photos of her when she was pregnant or with me as a newborn. The only photos I have of myself as a newborn are the mug shots they used to take in hospital back in the 80’s! It makes me a little bit sad really that there aren’t any memories of this part of my life. Not because I want to see myself, but because I would love to see my mum in them. To see her at the beginning of her motherhood journey, to see the love she had for me, to feel more connected to my past. I wish she knew how much those photos would mean to us now!
